Drinking in Wineglass Bay

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Breakfast was a pot of tea and granola & yoghurt on the beach. We packed up the tent and headed to the trailhead for the Wineglass Bay Viewpoint Walk.

Last time we were here the trailhead had a medium sized dirt parking lot, now it is a multi-tiered tarmac lot complete with overflow areas – holy cow, just how busy is this hike going to be? We were pleasantly surprised that within 10 minutes the hikers had all dispersed and we met relatively few people on the trail.

The lookout was a bigger developed area too but nicely done and those who were there were respectful and quiet, taking in the view and getting their photos.

We continued on the trail down to Wineglass Bay and across the isthmus to Hazards Beach.

Last time the bay was calm and Hazards was wild and windy, this time it was the complete opposite, Hazards had pristine crystal clear calm seas and despite its slightly chilly temperature, we couldn’t resist taking a dip before the final 90 minute walk back to the car.

Our park pass expired at 3:20 pm and we were out of the park at 3:15pm…we are on time people!

In Coles Bay we treated ourselves to an enormous ice cream before our 90 minute drive to Orford campsite via Triabunna to buy ferry tickets to Maria Island for tomorrow’s adventure.

We had a fish and chip supper tonight from The Fish Van in Triabunna.  Not the best fish and chips we’ve ever had despite being right on the harbor but the seagulls seemed to think it was the best ever!
