Creatures in Corcodova

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Our 5am early start began with a 90 minute boat ride then 3 hours of nature with our guide Rolando. On arrival at Corcodova I took a photo of my nice clean hiking boots anticipating that they would never look this new again, and I was right.

Over the course of 3 hours we saw lots of wildlife.  Monkeys…more monkeys than I could shake a banana at; squirrel monkeys, spider monkeys, howler monkeys and white throated monkeys.

How many monkeys can you spot 1 or 2?
How many monkey’s are in this picture? 1 or 2?

Lots of birds, particularly toucans and we kept a respectable distance from a crocodile taking a swim in an inlet.

Unfortunately we didn’t see any of the big mammals that live in this area like the jaguars, tapirs and ant-eaters (although we smelt a dead tapir – does that count?) and no harpy eagle which isn’t surprising since sightings are very rare, but it would have been nice all the same…

It was very hot and humid which was draining but we had a great day.
