Since Mount Manguanui won us over yesterday and the forecast was for a gloriously sunny day with rain to follow the rest of the week, we decided to stay put and enjoy all that this place has to offer.
We wandered through town for a couple of hours after breakfast and Mike managed to talk me into buying a couple of really nice Merino wool tops. He encouraged me to get more but I was adamant I didn’t need more. Needless to say, within a week of being back home I wished I’d bought more. Will I never learn?
Once we were all shopped out we got settled on the beach for the rest of the day and had a relaxing time reading, eating, drinking and swimming. We took a break from the sun mid-afternoon and went in search of ice cream but aside from that it was just beach, beach, beach.
Tonight’s dinner was at Post Bank a restaurant in a historic building full or character, fantastic food, creative cocktails and a hopeless French waiter (yes, another one!) Playing on its past history of having been both a post office and a library, we sat in velvet chairs surrounded by books and the menu was presented as if it was a letter, in an envelope, the courses presenting themselves like a book; Chapter One, Chapter Two, Chapter Three, Epilogue. Great food with amazing flavors; sous vide salmon to start, tomato and mozzarella salad, then slow roasted lamb. I don’t think I will ever get sick of eating lamb!
